FOUR! Teeing off at the range in Bangkok
When I’m not on the road I’m based in Bangkok and working from my laptop. As anyone who works from home knows, if you’re not careful you can soon find yourself in front of the screen all day long and before you know it the day is gone!
So me and my mate decided we’d go and hit a few balls at the driving range for an hour or so. It’s such a great thing to do. The range we went to is just around the corner from us in Phra Khanong. I was really surprised by how courteous the staff were, how well run it is and most of all why I hadn’t done it before.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a novice or a pro, get out in the sun, relax and have a laugh with your mates and take a break in peace and quiet. So here’s the essential info you need:
Where is it?
It’s called 42 TEE OFF, it’s only a couple of minutes walk from the Phra Khanong BTS which is perfect if you need to use the sky train.
How much does it cost?
For a tray of 40 balls delivered to you by the super friendly staff it’s 90 THB if you’re a non member and 70 THB if you’re a member. If you don’t have your own clubs then fear not because you can hire the clubs for as long as you need them, 100 THB for an iron and 200THB for a wood.
We ended up sharing 3 trays, playing off one tee, and hiring two clubs. Total cost for two, for 90 minutes of fun, was 570 THB.
So don’t worry about bringing all the gear with you – just show up and have some fun. There’s also a bar there for refreshments, if you fancy a couple of cold ones with your mates then you won’t have any trouble here.
Why should you go?
The bottom line is that it’s fun and something different to do for an afternoon. It’s a welcome break from the gym, the malls and the bars. It’s also not that expensive at all. We were terrible but had a great afternoon for less than $5 a head – you can’t go wrong with that.
The next step for me is to take a few lessons and hit a real course. I know there’s some fantastic places to play around Thailand, so this will be the best excuse to hit the road and explore – I’ll keep you posted guys.
